We did it

Iron Bowl looming

With the Iron Bowl looming I think it would be a good idea to look back and examine some defining plays of the series.

Punt Bama Punt

This game was marked the last time we won the Iron Bowl in the 70's. We where down by 13 entering the 3rd quarter, but after 2 blocked punt's returned for touchdowns we took the lead and won 17-16.

Bo Over the Top

This gave us our introduction to the legend of Bo Jackson, down by 4 with seconds left to go Bo jumped over the top and gave us a lead and our first victory in the Iron Bowl since 1973

We did it!!!

Finally, we freaking beat Georgia and in a blowout no less. Looking back it seems like this was coming, Georgia always chokes so this was bound to happen.

Georgia is a great team being ranked number one comes with that title, but I think Auburn is capable of beating them.

We Still Have Room to Improve

This game was a good win but there are still things we need fixed, so here are some good and bad things from last game:

Special Teams- The kick and punt coverage teams need to improve after allowing a kick and punt return in consecutive games even with the uncalled blocks in the back we still cant let them even get in that position.

Ryan Davis- He played great and that pass was awesome.

Darius Slayton- Too many drops.

Defense - Played great but needs to give up less long passes.

Pettway - Nice to see him back, he finally looks like himself.

I'm adding some thing next week called the Malzhan meter it measures his stupidity on scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the stupidest and 1 being the smartest.

Gus Needs to Go

I'm not talking about about the LSU game I cant bring myself to, it just hurts to much. So I'm going to talk about why Gus needs to go.


When we hired Gus Malzhan I thought it was a great hire, he was the one of the main reasons we won the national championship in 2010, but I didn't know what was to come. Gus has only beaten Georgia and Alabama once, and both on miracle plays. Some people to think about when hiring Gus's  replacements.

Chip Kelly - He has alot of experience from coaching at Oregon where he turned them into a national power with one of the best offenses ever.

Scott Frost - he has transformed UCF from a garbage program to a good team, he would be a great fit, especially because he knows how to recruit Florida.

Intro to my blog

I will be starting an Auburn blog, I will be writing once a week starting next week about Auburn athletics but mostly football. I will also write a little about other sports mainly during the offseason. Some background on me I'm from Chicago but my dad is from the south, my mom is half German and I'm a Bayern Munich fan, otherwise i'm a Chicago sports fan.
